I’m Tricia (Annie), and with my soulmate and travel‑warrior husband, Gary, I spent much of my life, on the road. We met backpacking in South Africa over 40 years ago, and from that moment our lives became one long adventure. Together — often with three children in tow — we travelled independently to 175 countries, always choosing curiosity, connection and awe.
When our children were grown, we retired early from our careers as teachers and set off again, this time with no return date. The world became our home.

A Life Shared, A Journey Changed
Sadly, Gary passed away unexpectedly in 2024. He died as all true travellers hope to — on the road, doing what he loved most. They say old travellers never want to hang up their boots, and Gary never had to.
There have been moments when I thought I might hang up mine. But travel is woven into who I am, and so I continue — not in the same way, and never with the same companion, but with new boots to break in and a new chapter to walk through. My journey is different now, but it is not over.
I’d love to share my “grey nomad” life with you, in the hope that anyone considering this path can see that it truly is possible — even if, like me, you find yourself travelling on your own.
